What time does school begin?
7:50am. OLS students begin the day with morning prayer in the gym and then proceed to their classrooms. Students arriving after 7:50 are considered tardy and must report to the school office.
How early can I bring my child to school?
7:40am. If you must drop your child off before that time, they should participate in morning Latch Key. No faculty supervision is available before 7:40am.
What is the procedure for dropping my child at school in the morning?
Parents can pull into the lane in front of the gym to drop off their children.
When using the lane, please follow these rules:
- pull all the way to the end of the lane before stopping your vehicle. 6 or 7 vehicles can unload at once if everyone pulls forward as far as possible.
- when in the lane, wait for the cars ahead of you to pull out. Do not pull around the outside of the other stopped cars as children may be unloading.
- only use the lane if your child can get out of the car unassisted. If you need to unbuckle or help in any way, you should park in the lot instead.
- do not let children out of the car in the middle of Rhodes. Park in the lot or use the dropoff lane instead.
What is the procedure for picking up my child in the afternoon?
After school, the lane in front of the gym is closed to vehicle traffic. Instead, you should park in the lot and walk over to the lobby area to collect your child. Students are dismissed from three different doors: Kingshighway, lower level (near the cafeteria), and Faenger Hall.
